Yard Driver 1st Shift

Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Yard Driver 1st shift at our Russellville, KY, manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for the timely movement of trailers to/from specific docks for the loading of finished products for delivery to external customers and the staging of loaded trailers in specific locations for over the road drivers to hook up and deliver to external customers.

Carpenter employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operations excellence. As the Yard Driver, you will:

• Perform pre-trip checks on trailers to ensure the trailers are in compliance with DOT requirements and Carpenter Co. standards.
• Maintain adherence to State and Federal traffic law.
• Report all damage and unsafe conditions to management prior to trailers being released for shipment.
• Coordinate the movement of trailers with Dock Supervisors, Security Guards and Drivers.
• Safely move trailers as required.
• Assist loading dock with loading and unloading trailers.
• May assist garage personnel and drivers with fueling and cleaning equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness around the loading and docking area.
• May monitor and check in trucks and deliveries.
• *May perform duties of Local Driver*

Your additional responsibilities as Yard Driver will include:

• May occasionally relieve security guard as needed.

Skills and Requirements/Essential Functions:

• HS diploma or equivalent.
• Basic reading, writing and math skills.
• 6 months - 1 year of experience driving a commercial vehicle.
• Must possess a valid class A CDL.
• Must pass a D.O.T. physical examination and drug screen.
